Reminder for Class 07/11 + Augmented Reality + Final Class

Just a reminder that your Netvibes needs to be linked in your blog for class viewing on 07/11.

Final class presentation is to be done on Jing, as a video. You can voice over - use your imagination.
1. You can choose ANY e-commerce company to analyse
2. Each person will have 5 minutes to present
3. The class members will evaluate the effectiveness of each presentation
4. Imagination counts - stimulate a conversation!!!

For the 'fun factor' next week - we'll take a look at 'augmented reality' - IKEA is already using AR to help customers select furnishings.

A whole new way to use your mobile!!

For Class 07/11 - Need to post by 03; Comment by 06

The upcoming class we will examine crowdsource design services.

All business need a webpresence but may not have the resources to contract a design company for a customized logo or website or online brochure.

Crowdsourced design services is a solution. A person or business owner can get an original, unique site, logo .. or whatever is needed - affordably.

Similar to last week:

1. Choose one of the 2 companies and do a FULL e-business analysis.
Key elements are:
-how do they generate revenue
-what model(s) are used
-is there application for other industries - cite an example.
-how can the model be enhanced??

Crowdspring
or
99 Designs

2. Post your analysis by 03/11

3. Read others' posts and post a comment on their blog by 06/11 - 6PM

Comments should stretch the analysis, take it further than the original analysis.
No more than 2 comments per post - if someone has 2 comments already, then go to a different blog.

Resources + Prep for Class 07/11

In class 10/10, we'll take a look at how to get research and resources sent to you...instead of having to spend time searching.

1. Create your own resource center using
Netvibes. Put the link to the Netvibes you have created in your blog - under link list.
>>>In Netvibes you can collect RSS feeds from specific blogs and industry sites - this is like your own personal library, especially useful for working on your thesis.

2. To get info on YOUR targeted topic sent to you, use
Google Alerts. You will need to use a Gmail account. Tip - it is wise to set up a Gmail account just for alerts and subscriptions.

Other news agregators are www.alltop.com and Businessweek Exchange. Both offer the ability to set up a personalized news section. Feel free to find + share other resources that you find useful.

Next Class....

The posting due date will be 1/11 - however, each of you will have to view a classmates post + add your comments, by 5/11.

The purpose of the comments is to collaborate, adding more details or stretching the ideas. It is not to agree-disagree but elaborate.

Also for the next class, please create your post presentation in Jing. Download the free version and create a video of your presentation, with commentary. It is easy but will need a bit of practice.

The final for this course will be a Jing video presentation of the assigned topic.
